Dental Hygiene KOL Patti DiGangi, RDH Publishes the ROMA* Manual on Dentistry
Part of the DentalCodeology Series, the New Book is a Light Hearted,
Yet Deadly Serious Look at the Dental Profession
Addison, IL – May 09, 2017 – Patti DiGangi, RDH, BS, a prominent dental hygiene thought leader, took
a totally different approach when writing the latest book in her
DentalCodeology Series.
She and
co-author Dr. Benson Baty took a humorous approach in examining some of the
observations, insights and urban legends associated with patient
communications, dental team interactions and clinical practice.
“You can’t
make this stuff up,” says DiGangi. “I think everyone who has worked a few years
in a dental office has a ROMA book in them!” If you think ROMA stands for Results Oriented Management
and Accountability, think again. Those with a military background may recognize that ROMA is an acronym
for “Right Outta My A_ _.”
According to Dr. Baty, “Although we don’t
want to be politically correct, we don’t want to offend either. If you are
offended after learning what ROMA means, this may not be the book for you.”
The authors say the purpose of this book is to take a
light-hearted view of dentistry while also challenging assumptions, questioning
traditions and looking at the evidence with some ethical lessons thrown in for
good measure.
For example, here’s a preview of some of the chapter topics:
·
Patients
Say the Darndest Things
·
Professionals
say the Darndest Things
·
Dental
Education’s Darndest Things
·
Dentistry’s Darndest F-Words
The ROMA Manual of Dentistry
is not intended to be a one-hit wonder. In fact, the authors believe there is a
bottomless well of material to draw from. “Everyone working in dentistry has
their own observations, insights and opinions,” explains DiGangi. We are
planning to use a crowd-sourcing approach to gather some of the material for
our next installment. Dental professionals will be provided opportunities to
contribute on DentalCodeology.com and on our social media platforms.”
