BIOLASE Launches New Waterlase® MD TurboTM All-Tissue Dental Laser System

Newly FDA-Cleared Technology Significantly Upgrades Cutting Speed, Comparable to Traditional High-Speed Drill

IRVINE, CA--(Marketwire - February 27, 2009) - BIOLASE Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ: BLTI), the world's leading dental laser company, today announced the global launch of its new Waterlase® MD Turbo™ hard and soft tissue dental laser system. The most important benefit of the Waterlase MD Turbo is the speed of cutting cavity preparations which can now be completed as quickly as with the high-speed drill. The Waterlase MD Turbo will be introduced at the Chicago Dental Society Midwinter Meeting being held February 26-March 1 in Chicago.

The Waterlase MD Turbo offers significant upgrades, including a new handpiece with newly released software that recently received 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Other benefits include longer tip life; greater system reliability, especially for the laser delivery system; and an improved user interface compared to the current Waterlase MD, that simplifies selection of tips and settings. The Waterlase MD Turbo will be shipped to new customers beginning in March. The Company plans to make available upgrade kits for the existing customer installed base later in 2009.

Dr. Dan Jenkins, D.D.S., a Waterlase user for the past four years, said, "When I used the Waterlase MD Turbo for the first time, I was very impressed with how fast it cut as well as the length of the tip for reaching down into the tooth. Even with the Waterlase MD Gold handpiece, the Waterlase MD Turbo is significantly faster making it comparable to a high-speed drill."

Chief Executive Officer Jake St. Philip said, "This is a significant breakthrough for BIOLASE in improving the speed of the flagship Waterlase MD. A long-standing objection to laser adoption has been the speed of cutting as compared to the drill, but we will now rival that cutting speed for many routine procedures. We believe the addition of the Waterlase MD Turbo will accelerate the worldwide adoption of dental lasers as a standard and increase sales of our laser systems."
