Henry Schein One Unveils Ascend Advances
Three advances from the fastest-growing dental platform, each designed to reduce complexity and give DSOs more control

Henry Schein One, the global leader in dental technology, today announced three advances to Dentrix Ascend: Orthodontics in Ascend, the first ortho-specific clinical and financial module built into an enterprise dental platform; Voice Perio, natively built, hands-free periodontal charting; and expanded eligibility verification through Eligibility Pro, giving practices more complete coverage data with less manual work.
The announcements come as Ascend breaks installation records. Installs have tripled since January 2025, with DSOs including Smile Brands, 42 North, MB2, and Tend expanding on the platform. Ninety percent of the top 50 DSOs now rely on Henry Schein One to run and grow their organizations.
“DSO leaders are dealing with real pressure: rising costs, fixed reimbursement, time to cash. Every product decision we make is shaped by that,” said Brian Weatherly, CEO, Henry Schein One. “Native orthodontic workflows, hands-free perio charting, and smarter eligibility verification are how DSOs scale and control their revenue cycle without adding systems or staff.”
Orthodontics in Ascend
Orthodontics is increasingly part of the DSO growth strategy, but the infrastructure has not kept pace. Long-term treatment requires documentation, imaging, and financial workflows that span an entire course of care, not just one appointment. Orthodontics in Ascend closes that gap. Four capabilities are available now: Orthodontic Treatment Manager—ortho-specific documentation inside the patient chart tracking diagnosis, progress, and treatment status; Future Payment Plans—charges post automatically in sync with treatment timelines for cleaner AR and predictable cash flow; Centralized Ortho Imaging—longitudinal imaging unified inside Ascend, giving clinicians the full picture at every visit; GP-to-Ortho Referral Workflows—standardized tracking with dedicated fields and automated letters.
“Ortho is a long-game specialty. Treatment spans months, records follow the patient through every visit, and payment timelines have to match,” said Dr. Ryan Hungate, Chief Clinical and Strategy Officer, Henry Schein One. “When that whole workflow lives inside the platform practices already run on, the complexity DSOs fear about adding ortho largely goes away.”
Voice Perio
Comprehensive periodontal charting is a two-person workflow. On short-staffed days, that dependency means shortened exams and documentation finished after hours. Voice Perio approaches this as a workflow problem. Built natively into Ascend and co-developed with AWS, hygienists chart independently by speaking findings directly into the record, completing a full 6-point chart in under five minutes.
No assistant required—hygienist speaks pocket depths, bleeding, and recession; Voice Perio records directly into the chart. Full-mouth, 6-point chart in under five minutes. AWS-powered accuracy in real operatory conditions. 20+ minutes saved per hygienist, per day.
More Complete Eligibility Verification
No single eligibility source returns a complete picture. Payer portals, clearinghouses, and vendor data each cover different parts of the coverage record, and what one source misses, another often has. Eligibility Pro is built around that reality. It draws from Toothfairy, Zuub, and DentalXchange simultaneously, organizes findings by appointment through a Single Appointment View, and surfaces the coverage details and procedure codes a team needs before a patient arrives. Staff review exceptions rather than process every record from scratch. For cases where digital sources fall short, Eligibility Pro now extends its reach through a new partnership with SuperDial, using AI voice agents to retrieve remaining data directly from payers and return it with auto write-back into calculation tables.
Less admin burden—staff off hold, focused on patients. More complete eligibility data—multiple sources blended automatically, gaps filled by AI. Cleaner billing — structured, consistent data reduces errors and accelerates reimbursement.
“SuperDial was built so teams do not have to spend their day dialing and waiting on hold,” said Sam Schwager, Co-Founder and CEO, SuperDial. “Together with Ascend, we can help practices get more complete eligibility information with significantly less manual effort.”
ADSO 2026
All three reflect the same thesis behind Next Generation Clinical Workflow: Dentrix Ascend is a growth platform where AI does the work. At the ADSO Summit, June 15–17 in Chicago, DSOs can see all three launches firsthand alongside previews of Orchestrate Ascend and Ask Ascend. Connect with the Ascend team at the summit to learn about early access programs.
