Suite of Innovations from Carestream Dental Opens New Treatment Options
for GPs, Takes Teams from Case Start to Finish Faster
LAS VEGAS—After a long stretch without trade shows, doctors and team members are excited to explore all the latest technology at ADA SmileCon 2021. In Carestream Dental’s booth, C1201, they’ll find the integrated solutions that will help them offer new treatment options; open new lines of revenue and engage with their patients better.
The highly anticipated CS 3800 wireless intraoral scanner will be available for dental teams to experience. When microns matter, the scanner’s enlarged field of view and improved depth of field enhance soft tissue scanning, even with edentulous patients; making it easier to capture interproximal areas and subgingival margins; and improve image quality when scanning emergence profiles, deep margins and post spaces.
The scanner is all about freedom, including the freedom to offer new treatment options, from restorations to implant-borne restorations, sleep devices to orthodontics. For example, if doctors are looking to add clear aligners to their workflow, they can design and print in-house with a new version of CS Model+ v5.2 that now gives them more control. While much of the design process is still automated for users’ convenience, the latest updates give them more freedom to adapt treatment based on individual teeth, with the software automatically updating the case in response. CS Model+ v5.2 is validated for use with some of the industry’s most popular in-house 3D printers including SprintRay, Formlabs and RapidShape.
The CS 9600 CBCT system will also be on display, both in Carestream Dental’s main booth and the Best of Class Alley, BC1010—a place of honor reserved for Cellerant Best of Class Technology Award winners. This is the CS 9600’s third consecutive win and it’s the only extraoral imaging system to win more than once.Carestream Dental’s “smartest” imaging system is recognized for its intelligent features that aid with first-time-right patient positioning; artificial intelligence; pre-set programs; quality control tools; and even its ability to detect when the wrong accessory is inserted.
Imaging data captured by CBCT systems like the CS 9600 and intraoral scanners like the CS 3800 often serve as the basis for prosthetic-driven implant planning. Practices looking to expand into implants can easily do so with the Swissmeda Dental Planning System (SDPS). It’s the fully digital prosthetic-driven implant planning system that lets users upload CBCT and intraoral scanner data, share diagnoses and exchange treatment plans all on a cloud-based platform. The result is a patented drilling template that gives doctors more confidence during surgery.
Whether it’s implants, clear aligners or even sleep devices, there’s no denying that modern dentistry requires massive amounts of data—data often in the form of large image or design files that must be either shared with referrals or sent to labs for manufacturing. The Imaging Case and Collaboration app can handle transferring and storing the large-format files needed to meet the demands of working in a digital world. More than that, built-in communication tools and mobile access make it fast and easy to comment on shared cases.
With so many new treatment options now possible, how do practices communicate their technology benefits to their patients? Letting people know a practice is open for business and safely treating patients has been at the forefront of everyone’s minds since practices started reopening after the shutdowns of 2020. So, Carestream Dental launched Patient Manager, a new way of engaging with patients virtually, like two-way texting, an automated virtual waiting room and even online scheduling and a website chatbot. Patient Manager is a Sensei Cloud product, Carestream Dental’s cloud-based care management platform, but can also give SoftDent and PracticeWorks users a hybrid cloud experience.
The newest benefit of Patient Manager is Smart Messenger, which lets practices send customizable messages directly to patients based on their unique needs, like appointment type, procedure, operatory and provider. For example, a patient coming in for an extraction could be reminded not to take aspirin before their appointment. This new digital way of interacting with patients will help practices adapt to some of the post-pandemic means of communication that are here to stay.
