Statement by Oliver Frese, Chief Operating Officer of Koelnmesse, regarding Dentsply Sirona
"We regret the cancellation that we have received from Dentsply Sirona for the coming IDS 2021. The management of the US-American group informed us in a personal dialogue that unfortunately the current effects of the global Corona crisis have made this step unavoidable. At the same time, Dentsply Sirona expressly underlined the role of IDS as the leading international trade fair and assured that it would be participating at future events.
We, Koelnmesse and the GFDI Gesellschaft zur Förderung der Dental-Industrie mbH, the commercial enterprise of the VDDI (Association of German Dental Manufacturers e.V.) are totally convinced that IDS 2021 will do justice to its decisive role as the leading global trade fair in ensuring a successful re-start of the industry after the acute phase of the Corona crisis has eased. The industry needs a strong driver precisely now, which under the best possible framework conditions will guarantee a safe, personal exchange and thus provide impulses for new business. All the more so since a large share of the exhibitors of IDS are medium-sized companies, which are reliant on the urgently needed economic effects that ensue from the appeal of a strong marketing platform.
The remaining eight months until IDS 2021 is staged in mid-March give us time to further prepare all of the measures necessary for a successful and safe event. We have over the past months in the course of intensive processes and in close collaboration with all of the relevant authorities developed a wide-ranging concept for the re-start of the trade fairs in Cologne under the title #B-SAFE4business. Following this concept, IDS will also inspire the dental business amid the conditions of the new normality."
