The dentist element offers standard features that allow for future upgrades and integrations. The units are pre-configured to accept three drill drives with up to two electric motors, an ultrasonic scaler, and an intra-oral camera. They also allow for five instrument positions, all with light source capability. The dentist elements are height adjustable with pneumatic brake and both versions are equipped to add a tray (included in the CS version.)

Both INTEGO TS and INTEGO CS offer the LEDview operating light, which provides superior illumination of the treatment area. In addition, a network interface, an SDHC memory card slot, and a USB port allow the integration of new functions as well as immediate service technician communication.

INTEGO patient chairs are ergonomically designed to provide the most comfortable experience possible for both patient and clinician. A double articulating headrest is fully adjustable to fit patients of all shapes and sizes as well as allowing optimal visibility in a wide range of treatment situations.

Chair surfaces are durable, aesthetically pleasing, and easy to clean. Seamless lines, smooth surfaces, and premium materials result in a simple yet sophisticated appearance that is both stylish and practical, positioning INTEGO as a beautiful centerpiece of any operatory.

Goldfish Gets Braces, Thanks to Veterinarian

http://www.veterinarypracticenews.com/goldfish-gets-braces-thanks-to-veterinarian-trending/

While dogs with braces might be strange enough, the concept takes on a whole other level when it’s applied to fish. That’s right: A pet goldfish was recently outfitted with braces. Brian Palmeiro, VMD Dipl. ACVD of Lehigh Valley Veterinary Dermatology in Allentown, Penn. told Action News that the goldfish, named Mr. Hot Wing, “was born without a lower jaw bone and his mouth couldn’t stay open, which made it hard to eat and breathe.”
Dr. Palmeiro performed the surgery on Mr. Hot Wing after researching the case and constructing the custom braces out of a credit card.

OSAP Supports New CDC Summary with Resources

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has just released the Summary of Infection Prevention Practices in Dental Settings: Basic Expectations for Safe Care. The new CDC summary addresses the fundamental elements needed to prevent transmission of infectious agents, key CDC recommendations, current CDC recommendations from the Guidelines for Infection Control in Dental Health-Care Settings–2003, additional topics, recommendations and information published since 2003 and assessment checklists to evaluate prevention practices.
The Organization for Safety, Asepsis and Prevention (OSAP) recognizes the importance of these CDC documents and supports CDC’s efforts to guide the profession to provide the safest care possible. To this end, OSAP has created an array of tools and resources at www.osap.org specifically designed to help dental teams understand and comply with the CDC guidelines.
As a trusted source of information for dental educators, consultants, clinicians, researchers, and policymakers, OSAP provides timely updates, advanced education, innovative training tools, referenced answers to vexing infection control questions, and proven strategies to address compliance challenges. The organization has custom-designed tools and resources to help the dental team put the CDC guidelines into practice. These include:

·         From Policy to Practice: OSAP's Interactive Guide to the CDC Guidelines, a free online course with seven modules that break the guidelines down into easily understood principles.

·         CDC Guidelines:  From Policy to Practice by OSAP, a self-study workbook that walks users through the CDC guidelines. Each chapter contains practical how-to instructions, charts and checklists, pictures and captions, answers to common questions, and guidance for making sound clinical judgments.

·         OSHA & CDC Guidelines: Interact Training System, a program that combines requirements for OSHA annual training with the CDC Guidelines.

·         OSAP Dental Infection Control Educators' & Trainers' Toolkit, a coaching workbook delivered via CD designed to assist with the development, planning, and promotion of successful, high-impact infection control and safety programs and presentations.

In addition, OSAP will keep the dental profession informed using social media, member publications such as InfoBites, expert advice via Ask OSAP, web forums, and special programming at the OSAP Boot Camp, the annual OSAP conference, and national dental meetings. OSAP will also work with consultant, educator, and corporate members, and coordinate with other dental organizations to help inform the dental community.
Dental practitioners and other interested parties are encouraged to check the OSAP website (www.osap.org) frequently and become a member of OSAP to receive timely updates on new resources and gain access to additional educational opportunities as they become available.
Celebrating over 30 years of service to the worldwide dental community, OSAP is a growing community of clinicians, educators, students, policy-makers, and industry representatives who advocate for safe and infection-free delivery of oral healthcare. OSAP focuses on strategies to improve compliance with safe practices and on building a strong network of recognized infection control experts to help dental professionals ensure that every visit is The Safest Dental Visit™ for patients and the dental team.

CMS Extends Deadline For Medicare Part D Registration.

By the time they try to enact this legislation don't be surprised that dentists become exempt MJ

The ADA News (3/7, Soderlund) reports the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has extended the deadline for dentists to either enroll as a Medicare Part D “ordering/referring provider” or opt out of the program. The deadline is now February 1, 2017, but CMS “encourages health care providers to submit their Medicare enrollment applications or opt-out affidavits to their Medicare administrative contractors before Aug. 1.” According to The ADA News, this is the fourth time CMS has extended the registration deadline. Dr. Ronald Riggins, chair of the ADA Council on Dental Benefit Programs, cautioned dentists that they “have to take action,” and that neglecting to opt out of the program will not count as an opt out.

HENRY SCHEIN ANNOUNCES THE AVAILABILITY OF DEXIS™ FOR DENTRIX ASCEND® AT CHICAGO MIDWINTER MEETING

New Cloud-Based Imaging Solution to Help Dentrix Ascend® Users Enhance Digital Clinical Workflows

MELVILLE, N.Y., February 25, 2016 — Henry Schein Practice Solutions, the U.S. practice solutions business of Henry Schein, Inc. (NASDAQ: HSIC), the world's largest provider of health care products and services to office-based dental, animal health and medical practitioners, today announced the availability of DEXIS™ for Dentrix Ascend® during the Chicago Midwinter Meeting.  DEXIS for Dentrix Ascend is a cloud-based imaging solution built exclusively for Dentrix Ascend to help quickly capture and store images to the cloud, eliminating the need for additional digital imaging software, and automating daily procedures, such as insurance billing, to enhance efficiency and productivity in the dental practice.
The software, initially available to users in North America, offers practitioners four key benefits including seamless integration with Dentrix Ascend, enhanced digital workflow, quick access to images from the cloud and automatic upgrades and backups that reduce the need for maintenance and hardware. In addition, because DEXIS for Dentrix Ascend is built into Dentrix Ascend, practices no longer need to leave Dentrix Ascend and open a separate application to capture, store and manipulate images. With the cloud-based system, patient x-rays and intra-oral images are available to all authorized devices and users on the system from any location, saving time for clinical procedures.
“DEXIS for Dentrix Ascend is another example of Henry Schein’s commitment to providing digital solutions that improve our customer’s practice workflow so they can focus on providing better clinical care to patients,” said Rhett Burnham, Vice President, Product Management. “Working with DEXIS, we were able to build the imaging features directly into Dentrix Ascend so critical tasks are automated, helping practitioners maintain patient clinical history and improve insurance and billing workflow.”
In addition to improving productivity and efficiency, the cloud-based system captures original digital images and uploads them (not a copy) with virtually no loss of quality due to a compression algorithm that provides fast upload speeds to help maintain image quality. Once in the cloud, the images can be edited using a variety of tools, including filters, annotation and density reading.

“As the leader in digital imaging, DEXIS is excited to continue delivering innovation by teaming with Henry Schein’s cutting-edge practice management technology,” said Brian Gooch, Product Manager, KaVo Kerr Group – Imaging. “DEXIS for Dentrix Ascend is a successful collaboration between imaging and practice management that will change the way an office functions – driving workflow and efficiency gains.”
Users of DEXIS for Dentrix Ascend have been impressed with its capabilities. "DEXIS for Dentrix Ascend has helped make our practice's insurance billing more efficient. I also really like having the ability to remotely view, with clarity, an x-ray from anywhere when consulting with patients or colleagues," said Dr. Mau Nguyen, Newport Commons Dental Care.
To learn more about DEXIS for Dentrix Ascend, please visit www.dentrixascend.com or call 855.232.9493.

Introducing Ceramir C&B QuickCaps

I have been using Ceramir for a few years now and it is my go to C&B cement.  Doxa Dental has listened and there are significant changes in the delivery system! If you have thought about trying Ceramir now is the time to do it.

Some of the benefits of this new delivery system are:

  •   The capsule is self-activated, so no metal activator is needed.  By pushing the capsule down on the table, the barrier between the water and calcium aluminate powder is broken.  Now just triturate for 5 seconds, load the capsule into the applier and express the cement.

  •  There is no need to turn the nozzle when the capsule is removed from the mixer and it works better with more brands of appliers.

  •   Contains .17 mL of extruded material versus .10 from the previous SingleCap.

  •  Ceramir QuikCaps are the same great cement…now even easier!
